Betty C. Buckwalter, 90, of New Holland, formerly of Broomall, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at Ephrata Community Hospital.
Her husband of 67 years, Ira Buckwalter, survives.
Born in West Grove, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Hannah (Dilworth) Cook.
Betty was a music teacher, starting her career in Honey Brook and then teaching in the Great Valley School District for 30 years.
She enjoyed raising chrysanthemums and judging shows at places like Longwood Gardens.
She was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma in Phoenixville, participating in hat shows for scholarship fundraising. She was also a member of the former Samuel Fear Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Honey Brook.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Glenda, married to Craig Ballou of Twin Bridges, Mont., and Diane Buckwalter of New Holland; two granddaughters, Lia Ballou (Josh Hix) and Annawyn Ballou Griffin (Richard); and four great-grandchildren, Ayda, Asher, Ella and Reece.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Elinor, married to Sam Goss.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel.
